Art Museum Day

It’s National Go To an Art Museum Day, and the Phebe Conley Art Gallery is celebrating with the second installation of the Graduate Art Show.

The gallery opens to golden sculptures by Fresno State professor and graduate art student Jose Lopez.

The middle room is marked by Priscilla Yamamoto’s tranquil blue butterflies and meditative figures.

The final room features self-portraits by Erin Ryan, many of which not only paint pictures of outward visages but also make a statement for the trans community. 

“By using cast-off materials like hair to portray the beauty of trans and queer bodies as fine art, I reject both the theory and the system abjection upholds,” Ryan said.

The exhibit is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, until November 18. Admission is free.
