Fresno State plans for Holiday Season

By: Holden Wheeler

The weather has been changing, rain, temperature, and leaves have been dropping. Meaning that the Holiday season is upon us, Halloween has passed but Thanksgiving, and Christmas are still ahead of us. Fresno State Associated Students Inc. (ASI) has plans for the upcoming festivities.

ASI President Caroline Alvarez gave some insight as to what the group has planned.

“We’re working with spotlight events which is through student involvement. For kind of like a relaxation rejuvenation day, we’ll be bringing masseuses onto campus so that way students can kind of relax before finals.”

The on campus masseuses are just one of the events going on around campus, there will also be free food. Luis Sepulveda the outreach coordinator for ASI talked about what students could expect come finals week.

“We’re doing a finals snack-down, that’s just where we buy a bunch of ramen noodles, chips, and whatever else we can do. We have free bluebooks and scantrons, to give to students as well, to help them prepare for the final week. That is happening the week of 12-15th of December”

Aside from all this fun stuff going on at Fresno State, sometimes it’s the little things that make all the difference for people this time of year. Take Donald Munro for example a Lecturer at Fresno State who shared his special small piece of tradition.

“You know I still have the same stocking that I had when I was a tiny little kid. My Mom still has it she brings it out every year.”

These little things remind us what makes this time of year special like being around family and friends, which is what Alvarez talked about.

“That’s my favorite part, just being with the people that I love.”

Or the love that you can show others, as it is for Sepulveda.

“I like feeding people, that’s just the way that I show thanks to people so whether that’s providing like free food at all of our tailgates for students or whether that’s just having left over food and giving it to people that need it on the street”

Whatever the reason is for loving this time of year, it is about just that. Love.
