Jaron DelaCruz: The people’s Dustbowl Champion

Jaron DeLaCruz is a local 22-year-old musician who has recently made a name for himself on TikTok as a dark synth, wave-inspired artist.

His songs, “Shake,” “Mess You Up,” and “You” have all gained over a thousand views and listeners. He caught the eye of The Collegian’s managing editor Jiselle Cardenas, who mistook him for a student after he was spotted in a Fresno State sweatshirt in one of his viral videos.

The young talent has played at Fresno venues such as Thrift Demon and Strummers.

But De La Cruz says his main audience tends to be in southern California. This may be why he’s had the privilege of playing at the famed Roxxy Theatre in West Hollywood.

Whatever the case may be, DeLaCruz has undoubtedly made quite the splash, and he won’t stop until he makes even bigger waves beyond the San Joaquin Valley.
