FSR Underground allows students to get on the radio
You may have heard of Fresno States Radio Station KFSR, but have you ever heard of FSR Underground?
FSR Underground is Fresno State’s webcast station. It gives students both on-air and behind-the-scenes experience.
FSR Underground offers students internships, service learning opportunities and just a fun outlet for to get involved on campus.
Kirsten Martinez is the student marketing assistant for FSR Underground. She says she has gained a lot of experience in marketing for the radio station.
“I’m kind of in charge of a lot of the marketing and promotions we do for on-air and off-air,” Martinez said. “I do a lot of the content you hear, that includes writing scripts and helping make a lot of promos.”
FSR Underground offers a lot information and resources for students that can help them later in their careers. Fresno State alumnus Trevor Widger has been there since the start of FSR Underground and learned a lot during his time.
”I was there with every step of that process,” Widger said. “We did branding; we did programming, scheduling, music research, all of it. So it was really amazing that I got to see an entire radio station get created from scratch and just see every layer of that process.”
FSR Underground is just one of the spots on campus where students can get hands-on experience. If you would like to get involved, contact them on their website.
As of right now, you can only listen to FSR Underground online through their website but, they are hoping to one day have an app.
