The Bulldogs Marching into Victory (literally)
From agriculture to the arts, Fresno State has plenty of opportunities for students to get involved. For many that means the Bulldog Marching Band.
The Bulldog Marching Band has over 200 members. To make a field show work, there are a lot of moving parts.
“What really made me want to do BMB was mostly my friends, but now that I’m here it’s genuinely because I want to be,” says first-year band member Katie Collins. She says that the teamwork in the band is unlike any other.
“So all these little sections come together for like one big product because we all have the same goal in mind and that’s to perform. It’s really fun to have everyone come together to make this art.”
The Bulldog Marching Band has quite the reputation. Some students, like Davian Barba, chose Fresno State because of the opportunities that the band creates.
“What made me come to Fresno State was their marching band because I saw how big it was,” Barba said. “It seemed really prestigious, and the fact that I could get that opportunity was really exciting for me.”
The band even took part in the Rose Parade in 2023, an opportunity that third-year band member Isabella Caso says she’ll never forget.
“It was just awesome getting to do it,” Caso said. “I think in the rain too because it was pouring on us, but it was like, ‘Oh my gosh! We’re playing this show one last time! This is it!'”
The marching band has been invited back to the Rose Parade in 2025 and band members could not be more excited for the opportunity.
