FRESNO (KFSR) - The lack of parking on the campus of Fresno State has been a concern for students for quite some time now. The limited parking has caused several issues, such as arriving late to class and having to park off-campus, which causes concern to many students with having their vehicles so far from campus. This causes students to feel unsafe when having to walk back to their cars at night.
Many students blame the construction around campus as one of the main causes of insufficient parking. The construction has closed off parking structures, making it difficult for students to find a place to park.
“Campus needs to do a better job with the parking situation because I usually have to park across the street and walk to campus because of the lack of parking spaces,” said Business major student Joseph Morales.
“I have been here for four years and have yet to get to campus on time for class. I usually have to drive around to find parking.”
Morales isn’t the only one who feels the situation has not been resolved. Heidi Hernandez, a social work major, struggles every day to find parking on campus.
“There should be more parking structures, a variety of parking’s to have enough space for students, equal parking overall causes the parking does suck,” said Hernandez. “I hope in the future they actually do something about solving the problem.”
Hernandez believes the University is spending more money on other things, such as landscaping for the campus.
Students hope that the school will soon do something to solve this problem, making it easier for students to park. This would benefit both the school and the students.
