Tech services lend a hand to students on campus
The end of the semester is right around the corner and technology equipment is being used now more than ever. There’s a spot on campus that lends out some of those resources.
Alex Durant is a supervisor for the tech lending service on campus.
“Tech lending is a service in the Fresno State library that allows us to check out laptops, cameras and other stuff to students and faculty on \campus,” Durant said.
Students can check out equipment for one day or even an entire semester depending on what they need.
“Students can check out a portable charger for either a day or the week and this can help them charge their phone or charge the battery on their computer if they need to,” Durant said.
Although many of their laptops are currently checked out, you can still find plenty of other tech cameras, audio equipment and even projectors that you can use for group projects.
Celeste Jones, an advertising and public relations major, frequently uses tech lending.
“I actually rent my laptop every semester,” Jones said. “I’ve also rented cameras and a tripod before.”
Jones recommends tech lending to any student who uses equipment for classes
“I didn’t have the $1,000 to blow,” she said. “So learning that I could rent a computer and still have quality tech and be able to run different programs was so relieving, and I’ve stuck with it ever since.”
Tech lending can even help by answering questions if you’re not exactly sure what you need.
Tech lending can be found in the library lobby to the left of the front entrance.
