How Some Fresno State Students Celebrate Birthdays
A birthday is special. It’s the one day we get to ourselves. Plus, it’s a whole day to do the things that you love most.
Esteban Somielda, a construction management student, spent his birthday practicing his DJing skills at home.
“My favorite thing I did on my birthday last year was make beats. My mom doesn’t like me making beats, so I made beats. And I made them loud because she doesn’t like them loud,” said Somielda.
Plus, some restaurants will help you celebrate by giving you a complimentary birthday gift. in the form of food, drink or a gift card. Some of those restaurants will require you to sign up for their rewards programs in order to redeem your treat. As your birthday approaches, prepare to stack up on the free gifts.
Some students’ closest family members are hundreds of miles away. This can be challenging for them, but Nirvair Singh understands how to adapt.
“This time I’m away from them, but I’m still going to call them in the morning. It’d be kind of awkward to have them sing happy birthday over the phone but you gotta do what you gotta do,” said Singh.
