Campus Pointe is becoming a social hub
Campus Pointe opened in late 2009 and has become a place where students and community members can come and spend quality time together.
Located at the corner of Chestnut and Shaw, across the street from the Save Mart Center, there are around 20 different shops.
More than half of these stores provide a discount for students. All you have to do is show your Fresno State ID.
With so many options, it’s the little things at Campus Pointe that help show its importance.
“It’s nice going to the movie theater and going outside, out of the apartment,” say Elizabeth Avila, a psychology major.
Hino Oishi is one of the restaurants at Campus Pointe that offers student discounts, and even their staff knows how it can help a student’s quality of life.
“It’s great and wonderful to have a place and a restaurant where you know what, they have discounts because I work so hard as a student,” says Autumn Lee, a hostess at Hino Oishi.
Recently, the James Garfield Elementary School had a field trip to Maya Cinemas, and what can be a usual walk for a Fresno State student was a completely different feeling for these kids.
“They don’t get to see this in Selma so I feel like definitely it’s a different type of vibe, and I think it’s very nice,” says Elizabeth Buenrostro, one of the James Garfield Elementary After School Program staff.
No matter the age, students always enjoy getting out into the community.
