Seniors Give Advice To Incoming Freshmen

Graduation is an exciting time where students reflect on all they’ve achieved and what’s ahead.

“It’s a relief,” said marketing senior Issac Diaz about getting ready to graduate from Fresno State.

He has some tips for students just starting at Fresno State including advice about joining clubs.

“I would say it’s a free opportunity to get some experience,” said Diaz. “Because when you have opportunities to promote the marketing club, and create flyers for the marketing club, and when the marketing club invites speakers to the club, you’re learning new experiences that you can’t really learn in the class.”

If you take classes in your major and wonder whether they are not for you. You might consider switching your major.

Dylan Gonzales, an MCJ digital journalism senior, started as a business marketing major.

“Now obviously I’m a journalism major,” said Gonzales. “And that’s something I was passionate about before. Once I switched, I realized this is exactly what I need to be doing. So don’t be afraid.”

Jackson Sanchez, an MCJ broadcast journalism senior, urges upcoming freshmen to stay on top of everything while having fun.

“Don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to people,” said Sanchez. “Meet as many people as you can. That’s ultimately how you can make friends. That’s going to make your college experience way better.

Yahida Ruiz, an MCJ broadcast journalism senior, advises upcoming freshmen to use all of the resources the campus offers.

“Attend all events,” said Ruiz. “Go to every event that’s free, anything that the school offers for free. Like, when they have free tacos, free Dutch Bros, or commuter appreciation week.”

For all incoming Bulldogs, no matter how you spend your time here, make the most of it and have a great time.
