Women Fight Back With R.A.D.

R.A.D. stands for Rape, Aggression, Defense. It’s a nationally recognized organization that certifies instructors to teach the course.

These courses mainly focus on training women how to defend themselves correctly use their voices confidently.

“R.A.D. has trained more than 900,000 women since the program began in 1989,” according to the R.A.D. systems website.

“It teaches women that have never been in a physical altercation before. We teach them the basic fundamentals on self-defense,” says police seargent Michael Allison. “Specifically when coming to prevention of rape and how to escape and prevention from abduction as well.”

“One in five women in the United States experienced completed or attempted rape during their lifetime,” according to a study by National Sexual Violence Resouce Center.

According to a Humbolt study, an estimated 91% of victims of rape & sexual assault are female and 9% are male. Nearly 99% of perpetrators are male.
