DISCOVERe offers many resources to Fresno State Students
The DISCOVERe Hub on the main floor of the Fresno State Library is one of the resources that every Fresno State student needs to know about. The hub provides valuable information about WIFI services, Adobe Creative Cloud, or almost anything tech-related.
Dr. Bryan Berrett, the director of the Office of IDEAS (Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success) at Fresno State, says the DISCOVERe is the go-to place for students who need equipment.
“Starting in 2021, we actually started lending devices to any student who maintained their good standing at the university. As long as they were taking classes, they get to keep the device for as long as they’re a student here,” said Berrett.
Thomas Ortiz, the student lead at the DISCOVERe Hub, said student assistants are great at helping with tech problems.
“We get the struggle. We’re students, too,” said Ortiz. “We can make it easier for you in some areas. And the stuff you actually need to worry about, like, your classes and stuff. You can do that while we help with Wi-Fi. You don’t have to worry about having to do that.”
Melissa Rosales, an architecture major, knows about the device loaning program and tech services but says she has never used them.
“If you can’t afford one or you don’t have one or have access to one, to go to the library, or even to schedule a day for like the first half of class to come in here, in case the students are afraid to go up and to go ask for one,” said Rosales.
The DISCOVERe Hub operates on the same business hours as the library for any of your tier-one tech questions.
