Fresno State student-athletes score academic success at the athletic academic center

Fresno State, as well as the rest of the NCAA, are enabling collegiate student-athletes to make money.

Fresno State student-athletes have a lot to do. There are practices, weight sessions, film sessions and more all on top of actually earning their college degree. Several student-athletes believe that without the help of Student-Athlete Services it would be extremely hard to do it all.

Student-Athlete Services provides student athletes with all the resources and connections they may need to graduate and succeed after college. The department has tutors and mentors available at the athletic adademic center.

“Whenever I need help with an assignment or anything, I can easily go to one of my academic advisors to get help. If I don’t understand something,” Johnathan Arceneuax said.

Some student athletes struggle with the transition from high school to college. The athlete academic center makes it easier.

“When I first came here, transitioning from high school to college, I was behind on a lot of my work, and having tutors or advisors to help me and guide me through my academic life definitely helped me stay on top of everything,” Jaiya Jones said.

The athlete academic center is more than just a resource for school, it helps student athletes prepare for life after college.

“I help our students get prepared for life after the sport life after graduation. So putting them in contact with campus resources, getting them plugged into the community, help find internships and help them apply to grad school,” Taylor Wright said.
