The future of the internet: Why Fresno State students should pay attention to Web3
FRESNO, Calif. – A new era of the internet is on the horizon – it’s called Web3.
Web3 is expected to bring more security, ownership, and decentralization to the internet.
Unlike the current Web2 model, where large tech companies control data, Web3 operates on blockchain technology, giving users more control. AI integration will also enhance online interactions, making them smarter and more personalized.
This next-generation internet will be heavily integrated with artificial intelligence (AI), changing how we interact online. Experts believe Web3 could play a major role in students’ future careers and they should start learning about it now.
“Web3 will be the next development of the internet. It will be heavily integrated with AI,” Fresno State alumni, Miguel Sanchez said.
With industries rapidly adopting Web3, students recognize its potential to shape the future.
“I think it starts with my generation. What we do, what we decide to change, what we decide to develop. That’s going to change the trajectory of the entire world,” Public relations major Kendren Carter said.
Broadcast journalism major Jeffrey Sims thinks Web3 could quickly become mainstream.
“It sounds like it could kickstart within the next couple of years if it is a legitimate web browser,” Sims said.
While Web3 is still developing, its impact is growing fast. Experts recommend students start learning about blockchain, AI, and digital ownership now. They believe these technologies are shaping the future of the internet.
