Fresno State interns get creative with Red Wave Creative

FRESNO, Calif. – With graduation coming up, students are looking for internships to gain real-world experience. Sports fans might see some of these proactive students off the court or off the field on any given Fresno State game day. These proactive students are Red Wave Creative interns.

Red Wave Creative interns work with the department to capture game footage and photographs across all of Fresno State’s athletics.

“We’re just there shooting the events covering all the sports that we have here from just different angles with everyone else involved,” videographer Nicholas Cummens said.

Shooting for sports isn’t the only experience the interns gain. They also have the chance to learn advanced editing techniques.

Edgar Carrillo, who also works as a studio engineer for Fresno State, said he loves the creativity the internship allows.

“I think the creativity of it, kind of doing whatever you want, kind of making a video in a way where it reaches the audience and so it makes me feel a certain way. I think that’s the part I love,” Carrillo said.

Caleb August is a member of the United States military and a Red Wave Creative intern. He loves the combination of productivity and creativity along with the relationships he’s formed.
