The fastest growing job in America? Barbering is on the rise

FRESNO, Calif. – Finding a stable, well-paying job is tougher than ever, but one profession is seeing a major surge in demand. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, barbering is expected to grow by 7% over the next ten years, making it the fastest-growing job in the nation.

With personal grooming becoming a bigger priority and the rise of social media influencing style trends, experts say the demand for skilled barbers will continue to rise.

“Leave feeling ten times better,” future barber Adrian Lopez said. “So much cleaner, more confident, and obviously like. Me being able to do that for somebody else makes me feel good, you know.”

For many, barbering isn’t just a job, it’s a gateway to entrepreneurship. With flexible hours, strong job security and the ability to work independently, barbers are finding new ways to take control of their careers and full control of of their earning potential.

“Max, you should be paying for a haircut, is 50 bucks,” Lopez said.

From traditional barbershops to mobile grooming services, the industry is evolving. Many aspiring barbers are enrolling in trade schools or apprenticeships to learn the craft and secure a stable career.

Many trade schools and programs offer training. If you’re looking for a career change, picking up the clippers might be your next move.
