Home Sweet Home for Bulldog Softball

FRESNO, Calif. – Softball season is in full swing at Fresno State and the Bulldogs are on a winning streak, winning 11 of their last 12 games this season.

Margie Wright Diamond is home field for the Fresno State softball team. Recently it was also home to not one, but three tournaments.

Fresno hosted softball teams from states like Utah, Nevada, and all parts of California, including Power Four conference teams like the Cal and Utah. In the first four weeks of the season, Margie Wright Diamond hosted more than 25 games.

Fresno State head coach Stacy May-Johnson said these tournaments at home are a big boost to Bulldog performance.

“It great preparation obviously,” May-Johnson said. “We like to establish that home field advantage early in the season find out who we are and how we win here and that’s exactly what we use our preseason tournaments for.”

This home-field advantage has proven helpful for the Bulldogs. The team is currently 14-3 at Margie Wright Diamond and had a three-game sweep against Mountain West rivals Boise State. Their three losses came against only two teams, the University of California and Saint Mary’s College.
