New dorms to come to Fresno State in Fall 2026
FRESNO, Calif. – Construction has started on a 80,000 square-foot dormitory complex at Fresno State in P27, the student parking lot on the corner of Cedar and Shaw.
The new dorms are scheduled to open in Fall 2026.
The project was funded by a $33.7 million student housing grant and a $20 million California State University revenue bond.
It will be similar to an apartment-style building and offer 228 beds. This newest dorm is meant for families and upperclassmen.
“It’s going to be a full kitchen, living room, and then it’s anywhere from a studio apartment to four bedrooms,” Director of housing Erin Boele said.
Some framing for the new housing is already up. Construction workers are working Monday through Friday and some weekends to complete the project.

Miguel Galindo, a computer engineering major at Fresno State, lives in the dorms right now and is excited about the new housing.
“They seem a lot better than what they have now. Because instead of it being a typical community double, it would be a family-style apartment,” Galindo said.
Applications for the new dorms will open in February 2026, but the monthly rate will not be the same as what’s currently offered at the university.
“An apartment is going to be a little more expensive than just a regular room, but we are committed to being the lowest in the CSU system,” Boele said.
Parking lot P27 will remain a residents-only parking lot once the new dorms are complete.
