Pickleball has made its mark on the Fresno community
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport across the nation for the fourth straight year, according to USA Pickleball.
The Bulldog pickleball club directly reflects that with its growing membership and the full support from the community.
“I’ve noticed that the community has supported us both financially and physically with all the different things that we like to do,” said Nicholas Wise, club president and founder. “And that’s only because the community loves us and respects us.”
The sport allows former athletes to regain their competitive edge and others a fun new way to exercise. Pickleball is also a way for people to socialize and allow communities to grow.
The pickleball club hosts community events where students can participate for free, and community members pay a fee of $5.
“That’s all we’re trying to do is have fun. Bring more people out here, bring more of the community together,” said Cole Dedmon, a Kinesiology major.
All ages and athletic backgrounds are welcome at events like After Dark. Paddles, balls, food, and beverages are all available for the public.
“It’s a lot easier to have fun when you’re with your friends,” said Wise. “Try it out and have a blast, because I know you will.”
