Bathrooms can be your best friend if you look in the right places

Comfort, even in the most vulnerable of places, can affect the experience of students at Fresno State.

The Health and Counseling Center puts up the Stall Seat Journal. It helps bring wellness to students around campus. Students know there is a safe place where they can feel comfortable as one of the many resources they have.

However, discussion around whether a bathroom can be comfortable can be debatable depending on each person.

Issac Marquez, Assistant Managing Editor for the Collegian wrote a story about certain bathrooms around campus.

“I also want to be informational,” Marquez said. “You know some people don’t like using restrooms in public. “My sister, she avoids every restroom that is not in our house, so I just want people to know that it’s okay to use a restroom in public.”

However, sometimes using public restrooms can come with an added risk.

Students like Mathew Silva, a Film and Media Arts major, says he’ll go out of his way to find the bathroom that’s just right for him.

“So the way that I found out about that was actually through generational knowledge, believe it or not,” Silva said. “My dad, who went to Fresno State like 30 years ago, was like telling me about this before I started attending Fresno State. He was like, ‘If you ever need to go to the bathroom, go to the top floors. I took that to heart. ‘”

Facility management takes care of these bathrooms around Fresno State, but that doesn’t mean that people don’t have ways to find the bathroom that is best for them.

Finding a bathroom that best fits students can be beneficial, especially if there is one go-to bathroom that never fails.

Broadcasting/Multiplatform Journalism major Josslyn Caskey has a bathroom that she always goes back to.

“I really like the library bathrooms,” Caskey said. “I feel very comfortable here. I spend a lot of time here. So I have really tried to explore the library and other buildings around the area. But if I don’t really know where I want to hang out or like, eat lunch or even find a bathroom, I always just end up coming here. It just feels familiar. Safe.”

When it comes to finding the best bathroom on campus, remember there is always a place to get down to business that fits every student’s needs.
