Fresh Finds and Familiar Faces: Saturday Mornings in Clovis
CLOVIS – The Friday night Clovis Farmers Market is a valley favorite. The only downside is that it runs just from May through September.
Not a lot of people know about the year-round Clovis Farmers Market that happens the next morning. Old Town Clovis hosts a much smaller market on Saturdays from 9 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Owner of the restaurant Scoop’s, Soups & More in Old Town Clovis, Cora Shipley, is a big fan of everything the market has to offer on Saturday mornings.
“The Saturday morning market is year-round, so it brings customers. They stay in Old Town until noon, or maybe they’ll stay and have lunch and walk around. It’s just a great place to come on a Saturday morning,” Shipley said.
The biggest part of the Clovis Farmers Market is letting people showcase their own products, whether it’s homemade soaps, music skills, or even homemade Honduran bread.
Cathy Castillo, owner of Cathy’s House of Bread, makes and sells her homemade bread and praises the market for letting her share her culture.
“I started my business giving some traditional bread from my country, and I offer things people can know about my country, about my culture, and the farmers market here in Clovis is the best way to share some culture,” Castillo said.
From local produce to handmade goods, the Saturday morning Clovis Farmers Market on Bullard and Pollasky proves that community and freshness never go out of season.
