Fresno State Police Department gives away free scooter and bike U-locks to students
Motorized scooters and bicycles are a very popular way for Fresno State students to get around quickly from point A to point B.
Not only do students save on gas and parking permits, but these vehicles help reduce air pollution and traffic congestion.
It is no surprise then, these quick and zippy electric vehicles are also popular with thieves.

If scooter and bike owners are not properly securing their 2-wheeled gizmos with the proper lock, then they risk losing a high-priced mode of transportation.
“I saw a guy get bolt cutters, snap someone’s lock, and just start going,” said Logan Tavarez.

The Fresno State Police Department gives away free U-locks to students who come in and register their electronic scooters or bicycles.
“We encourage our students to come to the traffic operations to register,” said Fresno State Police Officer Alma Hernandez. “Once they register, they take photographs of their scooters, they register the serial number, and at this moment, they are giving out free U-Locks.”
Students and the public can view the campus’ daily crime log at any time to see reported activity.

The Fresno State Police Department is open 24-hours a day and operates just like a regular police department.
