TED at Fresno State

Fresno State welcomed the TED series to campus on Feb. 24.

The event was organized by business major Vivian Castillo and was an effort that brought together people from across the Fresno State community.

“What can we bring to Fresno State that brings in other ideas and that challenges ways of thinking and that can inspire Fresno State students,” Castillo said.

While TED Talks are organized by the Ted company, TEDx events are locally organized, allowing them to be more in touch with the community.

Every speaker’s topic was deeply personal. and all of them took the stage in hopes of inspiring change.

“And we can take that learning and apply it to our own lives and increase our reach and opportunities in life,” said event speaker Marissa Garcia.

Out of about 50 applicants, only nine were chosen.

Many are looking forward to the valley’s next TED event set to take place in May of 2027.
