Fresno State students take learning abroad
FRESNO, Calif. — From walking through the streets of a new country to experiencing life in a different culture. Fresno State students are taking their education beyond the classroom.

Through study abroad programs, students have the opportunity to travel during the fall, spring, or summer terms in countries around the world. Gaining both academic and personal experiences along the way.
For nursing student Veronica Abundis, studying abroad in Spain was both exciting and more accessible than she expected.
“My Fresno State experience was amazing. I studied abroad in Spain this summer, and it was not as costly as I expected,” Abundis said.
Back on campus, the Study Abroad Office works closely with students to help them find programs that align with their academic goals and financial needs.
Study Abroad Coordinator Rishad Gandhi says accessibility is a priority. “We try really hard to make sure we’re meeting the students’ academic goals and their budget,” Gandhi said.

Located in the Family and Food Science Building, Room 119, the Fresno State Study Abroad Office provides resources on programs, countries, and scholarships available throughout the year. Students can stop by, explore options, and begin planning their experience abroad.
Faculty members also see the impact these programs have on students beyond academics.
“Tiene muchos beneficios. Por ejemplo, para mí ver a mis estudiantes crecer,” said Fresno State professor Isolina Sands.
From gaining independence to experiencing new cultures, study abroad offers students a unique opportunity to grow both personally and academically.
In the end, Fresno State students are getting the best of both worlds, traveling and learning.
