Fresno State Pre-Veterinary Club hosts low cost vaccination clinic
FRESNO, Calif- Fresno State’s Pre-Veterinary club hosted it’s annual low cost vaccination clinic on March 21 at the Animal Science Pavilion , offering low cost rabies and DHPP (Distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus) vaccinees. Additionally, microchips were available for $6. The rabies vaccinee was $10 and DHPP was priced at $15. Patients had to be at least eight weeks old to receive a rabies vaccine and 12 weeks old to receive the DHPP vaccine.

The clinic was for dogs only, and all patients were required to be on a leash. No appointments were necessary. Customers were served in order of arrival, on a first come, first serve basis.
As for some of the students administering these vaccinations, this clinic served as the very first time they were getting experience with vaccine clinics. Pre-vet major student Mariela Recinos called it a good experience for first year students to learn from.

“This is a really good experience for first year students or transfers to basically get their foot in the door and be able to start their career and gain experience for future positions” she said.
The clinic happens annually, and will take place once again next spring.
