Fresno State Advertising Club relaunches
The Fresno State Advertising Club is relaunching this semester with a goal of giving students practical experience, building campus connections and eventually creating a student-run agency.

Club returns after going dormant
The club was dormant last semester, said Pratik Shah, a professor in Fresno State’s Advertising and Public Relations program and the club’s faculty adviser. Shah and students began organizing a relaunch, using a survey to find students interested in joining and taking leadership roles.
The club is starting with students in the Department of Media, Communications and Journalism. Its Advertising and Public Relations program prepares students for work in the field.
Workshops and service projects planned
Robyn Esparza, the club’s president, said the organization plans to offer guest speakers, workshops and service-learning opportunities. A LinkedIn workshop is among the activities being considered.

“We’re hoping to do some sort of service learning,” Esparza said. “Our ultimate goal is to become a student-run agency here on campus.”
Esparza said the club’s work can benefit students beyond those studying advertising and public relations because skills such as communication and leadership apply across fields.
Showcase planned for end of semester
Shah said students can build professional and social connections through the club. He hopes it will bring together students interested in advertising, public relations, personal branding and the broader media and communications field.
Esparza said being involved has helped her feel more comfortable meeting and talking with people. The club plans to hold a showcase for the department at the end of the semester. Organizers hope to hold a larger relaunch and showcase next semester and invite students from across the university.
